The NCCS has various Cub and Boy Scout unit recognition programs.
National Catholic Quality Unit Award - Pope Paul VI

Cooperation, development, and program are the key words in the recognition of Catholic
chartered units in earning the
National
Catholic Quality Unit Award - Pope Paul VI. The
adult leadership responds to training not only in Scouting lores, but training in Catholic
Scouter Development, and religious counseling. The Scouts in each Pack, Troop, Team,
and Crew/Ship respond by participating in the religious emblems program respective of their
status in Scouting.
Regional Quality Unit Award - Golden Medallion
The
Gold Medallion Award
program is established to identify and recognize the outstanding
Catholic Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, and Venturing Crew/Ship in each of the fifteen
Episcopal Regions of the United States. It is also intended to promote the National Catholic
Committee on Scouting initiative to increase Scouting units, youth members, and adult
leaders. National Gold Medallion winners epitomize those units that excel at providing youth
with quality programs including religious activities, religious emblems participation,
outdoor activities, and special events that encompass the religious, vocational, and
educational aspects of Scouting under Catholic auspices.
Golden Bow Membership Initiative Recognition

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) is in the midst of a National Catholic
Membership Initiative which is a joint emphasis of the NCCS and the Boy Scouts of America.
The "
Golden Bow"
symbolizes the arrow shot from a bow straight toward its target. The bow
represents leadership and charter partners - the arrow, Catholic Scouting Programs - the
target, Catholic youth in our communities. The Golden Bow is a symbol, then, of our intention
to deliver quality Catholic Scouting programs to as many Catholic youth as possible by
strengthening charter relationships, building new units, and recruiting more youth and adult
members. Our goal is to make the Scouting ministry available to every Catholic youth.
See the requirements for each recognition on the
NCCS
website.
